Welcome to the Nerd Nest! We’re Jake and Megan, and we produce this blog as a team with the occasional help from our little nerds-in-training, Eliza and Jonas.
Megan is an aspiring novelist and work at home mama with a sociology degree and a pathological need to make stuff. She reads piles and piles of books, documents our lives, drinks kidney stone causing amounts of coffee, cooks yummy stuff, thinks up projects, and plays with the littles all day. She’s usually the voice of the blog, though photos and content are always a team effort.

Jake is a computer geek and professional code sifter with software engineering and business management degrees who is married not only to Megan, but also his camera and laptop. On top of his day job at a medical software company and our Etsy shop, Jake is a code slinger for Freckled Nest Design. He is constantly taking pretty pictures, learning new programing languages and web development techniques, buying gadgets, finding cool stuff on the web, and professing his undying love for Megan.

Eliza is in Kindergarden at a full immersion French charter school. She is a self professed lover of math, science, reading, and writing and loves nothing more than doing projects with her family. She has amazing logic skills and very often out foxes us. She’s got a BIG personality, not unlike Olivia the pig from the popular children’s book series.

Jonas is a mover and is always on the go. He’s no snuggler, but he’s super affectionate and loves to play. He’s sneaky though, and right now he’s giving us a run for our money. He’s a little sponge soaking up life, and he’s an awesome little dude that already has a sense of humor.

We’re city mice, and in 2012 we moved from our River Market loft to Holly House in our very favorite Kansas City district–Westport.
We love our location because we’re nestled right in the middle of the action and can walk to so many places, the most important of which are bookstores, coffeshops, restaurants, a movie theater, record shops, hardware stores, toy stores, art supply shops, the post office, and an Apple store.
This is our life. If you want to know more about us, feel free to ask!
