I’ve been on an awesome pocket scrapbooking productivity kick! After being in super scraper mode making 31 projects for my pocket scrapbooking workshop 31 Challenges, I just kept going.
I am completely accepting that my motivation to work on this project comes in ebbs and flows, so I harness those flows and try to ride the wave as long as I can. And as long as I keep my mantra Document Now, Make Later in mind, I don’t have “catch up” guilt–it doesn’t matter when those memories get in the books if I have the documentation ready for me when I am ready to do something with it.
I’m also of the mind that even if my pocket scrapbooks are organized chronologically, I don’t have to scrapbook chronologically. Because I have a system in place, I know exactly where every finished spread or layout will go in my album. So I can set goals that match up with what is currently motivating me.
I busted out my weekly September spreads even though I have a lot of gaps to fill in for the summer months.
Here’s September 5-9, which is a partial week because I’ll make a separate spread documenting the highlights of our family visit to see Kristin over Labor Day weekend.
I had a lot of photos that I wanted to include in this spread, so I only included a few cards and got in a lot of my journaling with label stickers! Icons also helped to add more color and fun into the spread.
Here are the supplies I used for this spread:
- Ali Edwards Summer Sticker Variety Pack
- Ali Edwards Ali Edwards Brave New Day Journal Cards
- Ali Edwards precision pen
- Kelly Purkey kit card and label
- Becky Higgins Design A and Design K page protectors
Going on here: Seeing “It” with my dad, brother, and my brother’s friend, all of the extracurriculars (dance, soccer, robotics), Jonas drawing a cute picture of our family at Ava’s dance class, Jake and the little kids meet firefighters and get a picture with the truck.
I like to add journaling to my title card when I didn’t leave much room for cards in the spread itself. This Kelly Purkey card with a stripe at the top was perfect for giving me room to journal and add a title. Luckily, it also matched the Ali Edwards stickers and card that were the main design elements on the spread.
Going on here: Game night (Let’s Go Fishin’, replaced our PS3 + new games for that, Bamboo Labyrinth), Ava pretending to fish off of our porch, fun at the park, snuggles from both cats at the same time (rare), going out for coffee, autumn gardening, testing our new waffle maker, and a bit about how much overtime Jake had to work this week (which also made evening parenting very exhausting for me).
When I know I’ll need to make room for label stickers or want to add an embellishment to a collage, I’ll make sure to arrange the collage so that my hybrid additions after printing won’t cut off anything important in the photos.
I love this happy spread documenting a very busy week!
If you are a pocket scrapbooker, I’d love to hear how you are doing with your motivation right now!
