I used the Freckled Fawn October embellishment kit to go back and finish my weekly pocket spreads for October 2016.
Here’s October 9-16, 2016!
I really loved the photo of the colorful leaves for this spread, so I used it as a jumping off point. I decided to go with bright colors, so I combined the FF kit with autumn FF items from a few years ago and colorful cards from my stash.
This is a really good way to keep going with your kit once you’ve used a large portion of it–look to your leftovers from other kits from the same season to see what you can combine!
- Freckled Fawn October embellishment kit–label stickers, chipboard stickers, epoxy wood button stickers, alpha stickers

Going on here: Autumn leaves, Evil Dead: The Musical, bonfire, 2nd presidential debate, kids climbing all over my brother, Ava being her adorable self.
I had a lot of fun with the title card! I loved the Freckled Fawn October 8.5×11 paper I used for the background, but I really wanted to add some brightness. I added the date range with label stickers and alpha stickers, then added rows of old Freckled Fawn epoxy buttons to brighten the background. I finished off the title card with an epoxy wood button sticker.
I really love the photos on this side of the page, so I really wanted them to stand out. I kept it simple aside from the title card, just adding journaling spaces onto cards with a Kelly Purkey label on the old Freckled Fawn card and adding a Freckled Fawn October 8.5×11 paper scrap to an old Studio Calico card.
Going on here: Walks in my neighborhood + awesome neighbor Halloween decorating, Jonas tries out Eliza’s hip hop class, Kansas City Symphony field trip with Eliza’s class, Jake’s at lunch with his team, visiting our friend Paul at work.
Leaves was a big theme for my page, so adding the “crunching leaves” chipboard sticker was a no brainer. It worked even though the color is more dull than what I used for the rest of the page–this just made it not stand out as much compared to the bright embellishments.
Added in a bit of journaling to the center of a collage with a sticker from the Ali Edwards Summer Sticker Variety Pack.
And got in a bit more journaling plus fun colors on this page by altering cards. The red card is cut from a Freckled Fawn October 8.5×11 paper and has a Kelly Purkey label for journaling. The other card combines two Kelly Purkey cards, so I could get in the colors from the leaves pictures and could cover up words that weren’t relevant to the page on the green card. I added journaling on a label sticker and got in more of my leaves motif by adding old Freckled Fawn felt leaves stickers on top of a little banner sticker from the Ali Edwards Summer Sticker Variety Pack.
I really love how this page turned out–I’m so glad I mixed old and new kits to make a page that makes photos I really love shine.
