I’m just going to overload you with pocket spreads because I’m so excited about finishing up October 2016! This one covers the everyday stuff from October 23-31. I made separate pages to document our Halloween costumes and I’m making another one for a Halloween party at my great-grandpa’s retirement home.
I used the Freckled Fawn October embellishment kit as a jumping off point for almost all of the October 2016 spreads I made, but for this one I decided to start with some of the papers and journaling cards and then mix in lots of different supplies! Skipping the Freckled Fawn embellishments on this one helped me to stretch my October supplies even further–I think I’m up to 12 projects with the kit at this point?!?
I started with one of my last October journaling card that coordinates with the FF kit, the single pumpkin card, then added in another pumpkin card from an old Freckled Fawn October pack. Then I mixed it up!
- Freckled Fawn October 8.5×11 papers
- Freckled Fawn October journaling card
- Ali Edwards precision pen
- Ali Edwards Summer Sticker Variety Pack
- Ali Edwards Summer Embellishment Variety Pack
- Ali Edwards Day in the Life Summer Die Cut Pack
- Studio Calico Written in the Stars and Young at Heart Documenter Kits
- Kelly Purkey Grey Alpha Stickers and card from past kit
- Becky Higgins Design A pocket pages
Going on here: Making and hanging ghosts for our front porch with Jonas’s friend (super easy–the kids drew faces on felt, we cut them out and hot glued them onto white fabric, cut a hole in the top to hang a string through, old plastic plant containers on the inside to give them shape), enjoying the autumn colors, Ava REALLY excited our cat Lily is sitting with her, eating out with Ava at Friends Sushi & Bento Place.
I wanted a Halloween-y feel for this spread, so I mixed in a lot of black. I found this web-looking black ribbon in my ribbon stash and thought it would be a fun way to add on the title without taking too much attention away from the gorgeous trees.
I found a black striped Kelly Purkey card in my stash and used an Ali Edwards label to turn it into a journaling card. A striped chipboard banner sticker from Studio Calico on the Freckled Fawn pumpkin card tied the two cards together!
I make a lot of collages with 6 2×2 photos for 4×6 pockets, but I only had four photos to use this time. So I backed the photo collage with one of the Freckled Fawn October 8.5×11 papers and added a chipboard star half circle sticker from Studio Calico. I also added an Ali Edwards sticker to the center of the collage with 4 2×3 photos–a design trick I repeat over and over again.
Going on here: The Halloween candy haul, Jonas’s class Halloween party, after robotics practice, new haircut, jack-o-lantern clementines, Eliza’s friends hanging out after school, Jake bought me a Hillary pop figure, Kelly (step-mom prime) visiting after she got off work.
There were fewer nature photos on this side of the spread, so I thought cork embellishments from Ali Edwards would be a great texture to add in with embellishments! I used the heart cork sticker to draw more attention to Jonas’s teacher in the photo.
I wanted more cork, but the phrase on this square cork piece wasn’t relevant. So I added a geotag die-cut and label sticker on instead. The green of the Ali Edwards geotag went perfectly with the card I cut from green patterned Freckled Fawn paper.
This spread was so much fun to make and it’s getting me excited for some of the same events next week: school party and trick-or-treating!
