Using Photos for Design Ideas with Lisa | Nerd Nest Challenge 1

Today Nerd Nest Creative Team member Lisa is here to share her take on this month’s Nerd Nest Challenge Mimic Your Photo.

For this month´s challenge we were asked to show you how you can mimic your photo in the design of your layout. This was an easy one for me since this is how I work most of the time. I always start with a photo and then usually take a color or shade from the photo when I go to choose my papers and embellishments.

This time I used the grey blanket and colorful pillow in the background.

I chose my patterned paper and happened to have this larger scrap piece that had both the aqua/green color from the pillow and also the grey. I paired it with an aqua colored cardstock.

I also liked the pink in the pillow so I picked a few enamel pieces to add a third color. At first I was going to add my journaling to that grey banner, but then I was afraid to mess it up! So I put one of the super cute pins from My minds Eye on there instead. And it was grey! Also it had the pink nose, perfect!

I just wanted to add a few more layouts to show you how I have used the color in my photos to the rest of the layout design.

You can see that you can really go all in with both matching patterned papers and embellishments or just add a few embellishments to mimic the color in your photos.

I hope that this inspired you!

Thanks so much Lisa!
