This month’s Nerd Nest Challenge is to Repeat a Shape.
Find a way to repeat a shape in your design, whether it’s by cutting your photos into circles and cascading them across the page with patterned paper circles, adding a row or cluster of star embellishments, using a repeating shape patterned paper, or including photos of different things that have the same shape (like a bunch of door or fruit photos!).
Get creative with it!
It’s no secret that I absolutely love reading, so what shape is better for me to repeat on one of my monthly reads pages than hearts? When I saw all of the great heart shapes in the Freckled Fawn July 2017 kit, I went through my backlog of monthly reads photos for the photos that matched the colors the best and whipped up a page.
I used just white cardstock, the kit, and a Collecting Memories journaling card (as a background for the title) on this page. That patterned paper is actually the kit pouch cut up! I trimmed off the zipper and the sides and had a nice long piece to work with.
In addition to the repeating hearts on the pouch-turned background, I added a line of resin hearts to the left side of the page, then created a visual triangle with the line of hearts, a pink chipboard sticker heart by the title, and a wood-topped paperclip on top of a photo. I rubbed some ink on the wood to get that bright yellow color!
I had a lot of fun playing around by repeating hearts, now I want to try a few other repeating shapes ideas!
