I immediately fell in love with the acetate number die cuts in the June 2017 Freckled Fawn Kit. I thought they’d look great on a pocket page, so I decided to make a page documenting my favorite 9 things about last year’s Kansas City Maker Faire! I wanted to have plenty of room for journaling by the numbers, so going with a pocket page protector with 4×4 pockets was perfect: just enough room for 9 number / journaling cards and 9 photos!
I alternated the cards and the corresponding photos to create a checkered pattern. I also made things a bit more interesting by varying the placement of the numbers, which I stapled on.
It was hard to narrow down to just 9 things I wanted to write about for the event. I pulled all of the photos I wanted to use first, then I moved them around and grouped them by common themes until I had nine photo groups. This made coming up with my 9 favorite memories from this Maker Faire much easier!
If you’d find this method overwhelming, you can also write a list of memories first, then look for photos that correspond to or could represent those memories. This could also help you narrow down which photos of an event you’d like to use if you have trouble choosing.
To add more color, I used a washi sticker on one side of each card. I decided which tape to use after placing my numbers and deciding where my photos would go, which helped me to get a good color and pattern balance across the page as a whole.
Next, I added a chipboard phrase sticker to each photo / photo collage.
This is one of my favorite events each year, so I’m so happy with this special spread for it.
Do you have a take on this top 9 idea? How will document your top 9 memories of an event or time period?
