I chose to use an unusual method (as least for me) to make my very own journaling cards. This spread is about the annual Balloon Fest in Albuquerque, New Mexico. My husband was stationed there in 2009 to 2011.
As you can see my photos are very colorful so I decided to throw caution to the wind and make colorful journaling cards. I also decided to use some black card stock to “ground” the pages. So following is how I made my cards:
First, I used a stencil and white, textured card stock with gel medium. Lay the stencil on the card stock and gently apply matte gel medium through the stencil with a plastic palette knife. Then just let it dry thoroughly.
Second, use distress inks in various colors to color over the raised stenciled area. I used three colors and a mini round ink blending tool to add the ink in layers. For the 4X6 card I just used the distress inks with the blending tool without embossing.
Third, I used a brown distress ink to “ink” the edges of the cards.
And finally, I decided to use minimal embellishments on my page since there is so much going on in the photos and a lot of color.
If you have any questions I will be glad to answer them!
