This week was a big deal, because it’s the week we brought home our new bird Hermes! I made a few 8.5×11 pages about him first, so this spread started with inserts.

The insert pages were loaded with embellishments, so I made sure to keep it simple for the pocket page portions of the spread. I found cards that worked with the colors in the inserts and only embellished with labels to get in extra journaling.

I mostly used the Kelly Purkey January kit for this spread, which worked really well with all of the Freckled Fawn February Kit embellishments.

Going on here: Lots of new recipes for my #MeganDoes52Recipes project, a trip to the zoo, an update on how our hermit crabs are doing, Jake’s new quadcopter equipment (I need to go back in and add some journaling about him taking it to the office–he said people popped out of their cubicles like meerkats, lol), Eliza at hip hop.

Adding in a story as in insert helps to highlight it! You can see more of this Hello Hermes layout here.

I did a take on Freckled Fawn’s Sketch Challenge #2 for this page: they are doing weekly sketches this month to celebrate Freckled Fawn’s birthday! You can find more inspiration for this sketch, including some more photos of this page here.

I altered the sketch so I could include lots of photos–I printed all of these 2×2 photos off in a collage on 4×6 photo paper and cut them up–it was a great way to show the progression of our first day with Hermes.

Going on here: my soon-to-be sister-in-law’s wedding shower, a birthday dinner for another family member, video chatting with my friend Jen, Jonas’s robotics practice (including him and his friend rolling around and giggling).

This week was kind of go, go, go, so including a days of the week card to put each event with its day helped to represent how full my event calendar is getting.

How do you incorporate traditional scrapbooking into pocket page albums?
