This is my first “normal” weekly pocket scrapbooking spread for 2017. Between Day in the Life, a weekend trip, and Eliza’s birthday, this is a short one (which is lucky, because I still had a lot going on in those three days!).
I didn’t know where I would start with this layout, as I ended up with photos filling most spaces and not much room for journaling or decoration.
The mini-unit, themed Right Now, in the VIP area of the new The Awesome Ladies Project gave me an idea for how I would tackle this spread. I decided to write 10 things about the week, using number stickers from Ali Edwards’s Numbers Story Kit, using labels to add on the things where I didn’t have room for journaling cards.
(Basic membership for The Awesome Ladies Project is free, VIP Membership, including a monthly mini-workshop and creative team gallery, private forums, a shop discount, and more closes January 31 and won’t reopen until June.)
The left side has adorable pictures of our foster daughter, our friends coming over for dinner and a game night, Eliza in a mask my mom brought her back from New Orleans, and a photo of the mural on an antique mall Jake and I went to on a semi-date (what we call “dates” with our toddler) on the day the big kids went back to school, but Jake was still on vacation from work.
I made the title card by combining two cropped patterned papers and adding some of my favorite letter stickers by Kelly Purkey, outlining them so they’d stand out against the busy background.
I like that the number stickers are smaller, so I could easily stick a new one at the end of each “right now” thing I wrote instead of starting on a new line every time. I like the look of the circles floating around in there.
The boarder stickers at the top and bottom are a sneak of February’s kit from Freckled Fawn!
I included a 6×12 insert to document being an extra in a music video for my friend’s band The Sexy Accident.
Putting the title of the song on a big tape deck was just about the coolest way I could think of to title this.
I took behind the scenes photos all day, but didn’t have any photos of me at the fake house party other than a selfie I took with my friend Paul, who joined in extra-ing with me. There were shots of me on The Sexy Accident’s Instagram and Cooper Film’s Instagram (who shot the music video with Friend Dog Studios). I grabbed their Instagram photos to use too!
I filled up the back of the insert with photos from the shoot too. The card game being played in the top photo is actually the card game from The Sexy Accident’s most recent album, Champagne Babycakes. It’s an album as a card game! So cool! Seriously check it out.
I found some negative space in the photo of the director and assistant director and added a large label (from a past Ali Edwards Story Kit) and continued numbering my journaling.
The right page has a visit from my step-dad and photos of our snow day.
I love that Jake got a shot of us throwing snow up in the air.
I used the same label I used on the insert twice on this page, then added a little circle one. I ran out of things to say for #10, so I just included a sentiment about loving watching the kids play.
I’m super happy that The Awesome Ladies Project helped me to jump over my hurdle to finish off this page. What do you do when you get stuck? What’s your favorite place to go for inspiration?
