Today Nerd Nest Challenges Creative Team member Emily is here to share her take on October’s Nerd Nest Challenge, Document Your Favorite Season.

Fall and Spring are my favorite seasons, but it seems that over the years I have really been loving Fall. I love that I get to wear sweaters and drink a lot of hot chocolate (although I do drink it year round). I tend to bring out my crockpot a lot more and make lots of comfort food. I have also noticed that I bake a lot more. The weather is usually perfect…not too hot and not too cold. Spending time with family is always fun and we love going out during Fall. We always try to do something new during Fall, but also stick to doing some of our favorite Fall activities. Since Fall is a really busy season for us, I always have a ton of photos. I love that some of the photos are just simple or random things in our everyday life, but I also love that some of the photos are from events we have attended.

My family and I love getting a pumpkin every year so that we can carve and decorate it. I love taking pictures of the pumpkin before we carve it and then after. In this layout, I even decided to add a picture of my husband as he carved the pumpkin. For this layout, I mainly used Freckled Fawn’s October 2014 kit and some papers from my stash. The journaling says ”We always buy a pumpkin for Fall/Halloween. I always get excited when stores start putting them on display. This year, we decided we wanted the pumpkin to look like Jack Skellington from “The Nightmare Before Christmas”. Overall, I think it looks pretty good. The boys love it and always ask to go outside and check Jack out. Below are some close ups of the layout.

For my next layout, I decided to document our day at Six Flags. I also used the same Freckled Fawn kit and some papers from my stash. The journaling says “The boys and I went to Six Flags and had a lot of fun. We got on lots of rides and ate a lot of food. We love getting on the Merry-Go-Round and the little roller coasters. It was a fun day and I am so thankful that I got to spend time with all of my boys”.

I still have a lot of layouts and pocket pages to make, but I am so glad that I was able to get these two layouts done. I can’t wait to see how you document your favorite season.
