Here’s how I went about using the kit:
The smaller planner kit is perfect for light embellishing on pocket pages. I was stuck on a pocket page from April, which has colorful photos and memorabilia, and the colors in this kit turned out to be just perfect!
This side includes a few highlights from the Passport to India cultural festival.
I used the kit to add a bit more interest to the cards, framing the date and journaling on the title card with a small strip of washi tape and an arrow clip.
For the other card, I added a vellum sticker from the planner kit and a star clip from this month’s subscriber add-on embellishment, Stars and Clouds paper clips.
I had two bits of memorabilia I wanted to include–the program from the festival and strips of papers the kids practiced writing their names in Hindi on. I adhered the paper strips to the back of my patterned paper, but I wanted to be able to pull out the program to look at it later. The paper clip helps to keep the program from falling out and the brads (K & Company) will keep it from sliding around.
To get more yellow on this side of the page, I stamped the “love” word from the stamp set on another card from the Citrus Twist journaling cards.
The right page has all of the everyday stuff from the rest of the week.
For the 4×6 journaling card, I cut a journaling spot circle to use from the Citrus Twist journaling cards, and used the diamond strip shape from the mini stamp set in the planner kit to create a line. I added a vellum strip with the same shape (so glad that there is purple in this kit!).
I used the embellishment kit to make a page about going to see the musical Matilda! The blue and yellow in the playbill and the photo went great with the kit, and the star embellishments inspired me to add orange into the color scheme as well!
I used the Stars and Clouds paper clips subscriber add-on to hold the playbill in place–I just cut small slits in the paper so I could secure the clips on the slits.
Another tip–I cut out the pages from the playbill that are just ads to reduce the bulk they’ll add to my album.
I used the wood chip frames for my journaling and to add the date. I colored them, inspired by the colors on the puffy stars, by rubbing ink pads directly onto the frames. I centered a phrase chipboard piece in one of the frames and bordered the frames in puffy stars.
I liked this look so much that I went into the subscriber shop and bought two extras of the stars so I can border the other elements on the page as well!
I used two strips of vellum tape across the bottom then made my own pattern using the Lili Alphabet Stamp. Letters played a huge part in the set design of the show, so I thought it would be fun to play off that and use the letters from the title in the pattern!
I’m so excited to dive into these kits deeper! I haven’t even broke out my favorite elements–the popsicle and doughnut epoxy stickers–yet!
Like the kit too?
