This month’s Nerd Nest challenge is GROW!
Having a single word up for interpretation is a great way to get thinking about possible stories you can tell.
You can talk about personal growth–an event that made you grow as a person or a then/now comparison on how you’ve grown. You can focus on growing up, showing yourself or a family member changing and aging over time. You can document nature, your gardening plans, or how the city, town, or village you live has grown over time. You could also make a page with flower or foliage motifs or even sketches of things that grow!
For my take on the challenge, I mixed a literal interpretation–a self portrait of myself in a mirror in a giant floral art piece during the Saint Louis Art Museum Art in Bloom event with the word “grow” spelled out in floral pictures I took throughout the month–and a metaphorical interpretation with journaling about how I worked on personal growth in March.
I used brads to attach my photo on one side and a piece of washi tape with the word “pull” in letter stickers to show that the page is interactive. Then I added my journaling underneath!
I wrote about needing time for reflection to figure out how I should set my goals for the future.
I’d love to see your take on the challenge! Share a link in the comments or use the hashtag #nerdnestchallenge on social media!
Remember that you can do anything you’d like for this challenge: scrapbook page, art journaling, photos + words blog post, poem, video: whatever you are inspired to create!
