A new month means a new Freckled Fawn kit reveal! I’m thrilled to share this month’s kit with you, because it just might be my favorite Freckled Fawn kit ever.
I was inspired by the awesome color scheme, the hexagon motif, the arrows, and the large chipboard “adventure” word, so I decided to use the emellishment kit to create a pocket spread about a weekend trip to Michigan!
The colors in the kit went really well with a photo I’d taken of a mural, so I decided to use the photo as a title card with the chipboard “Adventure” laid on top.
This spread just for the highlights of the trip–I’m making a minibook with more details–but I still needed a 6×12 insert to get the basic story in.
I used the vellum letter stickers and the washi tape to create a card with the names of the cities we spent time in while on the trip. I used enamel dots and hexagons to brighten up a journaling card!
I let the chipboard heart overlap the edge a bit on the journaling card–I flip over the card to easily trim off the excess, then smooth out the cut portion with an emery file.
When I’m using Freckled Fawn kits on pocket pages, often I like including a little embellishment on almost every card. This helps me to bring balance–usually with color–to the whole spread. But not every card needs embellishing! I left the one journaling card on the back of my insert alone.
I created my own journaling card by adding white cardstock to patterned paper and using the chipboard arrow and hexagon pieces to decorate the edges. Like with the chipboard heart, I overlapped the hexagons over the edge of the card, flipped them over to trim them from the back, and filed the edges smooth. I saved the partial pieces of hexagon and put one in the bottom corner. The rest went back in the packaging for future use!
To finish up my spread, I used an acrylic “fun” word on the last journaling card. It was looking a little lonely floating on the top, so I added two of the black puffy sticker arrows to ground the word on the card!
I really love the new planner kit option–though the embellishments are versatile enough that they work even if planners are not your cup of tea. I think they’re a great option if you want a more economic or lighter kit.
In this kit, the little pencil stamp gave me an idea for an open house my son attended for the start of kindergarden. I love how well this simple kit works for simple pages!
I love the lightly themed touch of the stamped pencil border!
I used red label stickers to add a bit more information to the page and to create a visual triangle, along with a red puffy sticker.
I also added a geotag clip to the photo–a fun touch to add if you are working with layers!
I had fun making these two projects with the two Freckled Fawn kits this month and I’m going to keep going until they are gone! Make sure you are following me on Instagram to see what other projects I make with the kit this month.
