I’m loving documenting the everyday with pocket scrapbooking this year. I’ve been separating bigger events out into their own pages (like Jonas’s birthday party for this particular week), so these weekly spreads are reserved for the everyday.
For this week, my photos were dark and mostly inside, so I made sure to counteract that with light supplies.
I used the Ali Edwards Heart Story Kit for this spread. Combined with more simple cards (this time a few Goldie journaling cards), these kits can usually work really well with weekly / everyday pocket spreads, regardless of the theme.
This side is a lot of little moments, like our kids playing outside, taking Eliza to school because she missed the bus one day, Eliza teaching Jonas math on a homework website she uses, Jonas locking us all outside and my grandpa saving us (thank goodness it was a nice day), a whiteboard with Jake’s brainstorming at work, going to brunch, Jonas and his aunt Savannah at her 21st birthday party, and our foster baby and niece looking at each other adorably in front of the fire at Jake’s parents’ house.
This side has one more photo from Jake’s sister’s birthday, then the rest of the photos are for a combined birthday gathering for Jake’s dad and step-mom plus watching a playoff football game. That all includes present opening, Playdoh creations, fooseball, and archery (!!!).
I’m not a football fan, but the game is represented with heart card in Kansas City colors from the Heart Story Kit, which was a jumping off point for my product choices for the page. Sometimes all it takes is one little spark of an association between your stories and products to get the ball rolling for the design portion of pocket scrapbooking.
The love theme worked well, because most of the photos this week documented relationships with our family.
I’m not overthinking these pages and I’m keeping it simple, which is motivating me to get more done!
Are you pocket scrapbooking this year? How are you doing with it?
