Austin Street Art | The Nerd Nest

I recently went on a trip to Austin with my little brother and my (ex? first?) step-mom. It was a short trip, but we experienced as much Austin as is humanly possible in a day and a half.

Mostly by walking around a lot.

My favorite thing to do in a new city is to just walk and observe, and that’s how we went about seeing Austin. (Well, that and eating. I’d say we mostly saw Austin with our stomachs.) We’d drive to the different entertainment districts and then pound the pavement. We walked almost 8 miles in one day!

There was never a boring moment exploring, because Austin is full of amazing street art. I had my camera out like a super tourist most of the time and I’m not even embarrassed about it.

Here are some of my favorites:

Art on The Drag | Austin Street Art | The Nerd Nest

Bike in the vines | Austin Street Art | The Nerd Nest

Clown Mural | Austin Street Art | The Nerd Nest

Downtown | Austin Street Art | The Nerd Nest

Maria | Austin Street Art | The Nerd Nest

Musicians | Austin Street Art | The Nerd Nest

Bike Wheels | Austin Street Art | The Nerd Nest

Texas Mural | Austin Street Art | The Nerd Nest

Til Death Do Us Part | Austin Street Art | The Nerd Nest

Won't You Be My Neighbor? | Austin Street Art | The Nerd Nest

It is pretty fantastic to be in a place with art everywhere you look.

What’s your favorite way to explore a new city?

P.S. Thank you to everyone who commented with recommendations on Instagram! You were my tour guides. I’m only sad there wasn’t room in my stomach to squeeze in extra hobbit meals so I could try more things.
