We are on a food adventure, trying to use local meat and produce the majority of the time. Or at least start with what we find at our farmer’s market. Though that didn’t really happen last week. Here’s what we were working with:

Here’s what we were eating last week:
The Mac Daddy from McCoy’s. Some of the best mac and cheese EVER. It’s super rich and filling (with bacon and peas in there too!), so Jake and I can split an order. (We do that a lot when we go out to eat. Cuts costs and portion sizes are usually ridiculous anyway.)
We finally had some cold days and celebrated with hot chocolate. No need to buy the powdered stuff: just warm milk + cocoa + sugar.
I went to Po’s Dumpling Bar with my friend Emily while the kids and Jake made breakfast food for dinner at home. Emily had a Groupon, so we pretty much had a feast. I love their emperor dumplings, and the Pork Won Ton Soup is the bomb.
Our friend Paul came over for our favorite Autumn dinner: Creamy Chicken Apple Chili. We love having dinner with family and friends.
My mom also came over and had homemade pizzas with us, but I forgot to take a photo. We use this crust recipe, we mixed homemade pasta sauce (skinned and seeded tomatoes mashed up + fresh basil + salt) with frozen leftover pesto for the sauce. Boring toppings: we like pepperoni and cheese.
Apples and Nutella are a rad snack.
We had a death in the family and had some late nights with the wake and all, so we ate some crummy on-the-go food this week too. I hate to admit it, but Chalupas from Taco Bell are pretty delicious.
