Week 32: August 5-11

This was an awesome week that captures some fun everyday stuff, my mom’s birthday, and (mostly) running the Race for the Cure.
Left side: Cool caterpillar that I let eat all of my dill because it was so pretty, out for coffee with the kids, my mom’s birthday, some currently stuff, and my standard Instagram collage.
I took the picture of the kids and I out for coffee using Timer Cam. It’s one of my favorite apps; I love that I can get myself in the photo with all sorts of interesting angles just from sitting the phone down.
That awesome stamp, which I put directly on the photo, is from the Studio Calico Marks and Co Project Life Kit. There’s a mad discount code for the kit right now at the (free) Big Picture Classes Pajama Party. I also wrote my journaling for the photo around the stamp which was sort of fun.
Photos from my mom’s birthday and Jonas with his cousin throwing water ballons. I used Kelly Purkey white washi tape to get an area on the card light enough for a caption.
The August card is from the Kelly Purkey August / September Project Kit. I forgot to circle the dates, which I’ll go back and fix.
Instagrams with things like playing with baby Ava, eating green beans, visiting chickens, and going to the farmer’s market.
I included my race bib as an insert. Love the way it looks just stuck in there.
I made sure to put that I was running for Grammy, and wrote about Bald for Breasts.
Right Side: All about race day.
The Document Life Workshop challenge this week is to Use Sequins, so I had a lot of fun with almost all of the sequins in the aforementioned Studio Calico kit. On this stitching card, I added a few by hand sewing them to the middle of the heart. I also put a strip of adhesive down and clustered them in a line at the top.
The Pinwheel sequins are really bold, so I liked the look of using parts of them for the most part instead of a bunch of whole ones. Plus, the parts were easier to adhere: I had to use dimensional adhesive for the whole one. I used them to fill in the awkward spaces in my title to make this whole thing feel more balanced.
Another tip: there’s a 3×4 card on either side of this 4×4 photo collage. The colors worked better than the 4×6 ones, and it totally works just as well.
So proud of the race and I love the memory of doing it with Poppy. Also, don’t forget to head over to Document Life Workshop to get challenged to use sequins!
