Week 31.5: August 2-7

I had a vacation back to back with my friend Jessica’s visit here for a week, I decided to ditch the weekly system of Project Life for a minute and add an extra spread in. So Week 31 covered the few days of our vacation, this week, which I’m calling 31.5, covers a Friday to Wednesday when Jessica was here, and Week 32 covered a Thursday to a Sunday to get me back to my regular weekly schedule.
Make it work for you. That’s the key here.
Oh, and the theme for this spread is “I love Jessica.” Obviously.
Left Side: Pretty much all “Wahoo! Jessica is here!”
I had a ton of fun with the Amy Tangerine tag from the Studio Calico Marks & Co kit. I’m sure there’s a fancy name for the stitch, but basically I just went through each hole from the back, tied a double knot, and went back in under the knot. Fun project while watching TV. Also, I slowly faded the pink for each letter, which reminds me of an ombre effect and also makes each of the letters more distinguishable from each other.
The challenge over at Document Life Workshop this week is to Use a Past Challenge, because there are tons of awesome challenges in the archives that are worth repeating. I chose to do a mash-up of the A Few of Your Favorite Things and What I Like About You challenges. So basically, I listed out my favorite things about Jessica visits. I like that it not only gives me a space to gush, but allows me to write about the stuff that happens every time she comes, letting in some history and giving this trip context.
Insert, Front: Photos from a concert (the Grouch & Eligh + Atmosphere) Jessica and I went to her first night here with our friend Paul.
Also, I love Design H page protectors a lot.
Insert, Back: A lot of Jess’s visit was about food, so I have a photo of us standing around in our kitchen with friends after a big meal, a bunch of food Instagrams, and a big list of the stuff / places we ate.
Also, a little friends love note.
Right Side: The rest of Jess’s visit + saying goodbye.
As for the stuff in general on this page (and the spread), the 4×6 cards are mostly from a We R Memory Keepers pad I picked up from Target, most of the cards are from Studio Calico (went with a pink and teal color scheme), and the two letterpress cards (the plane and the pink one on the concert page) are both from Kelly Purkey kits. I hung onto those cards all summer because I knew I’d use ‘em on this spread. I’ve linked most of it below.
I made sure to list all of the friends we hung out with over the week, as well as a summery of her trip (all the stuff not already covered).
This page makes me miss her even more.
