Week 26: June 24 – June 30

This week, life wise, was one of the best weeks all year. And as such, the spread is packed! Get ready for chilling at a lake, Day in the Life, and (most importantly) the Maker Faire! It’s all so good.
This spread also made me reflect more on why I love Project Life so much. Yes, this is a spread with three inserts, and that’s a little crazy and overboard. (But that’s what I love doing, so I’m not worried about it!) However, pre-PL, this would have been about 10 layouts worth of info. And I wouldn’t have made 10 layouts, so I wouldn’t have documented most of these things. In fact, I may have been so overwhelmed that I didn’t document anything. The difference in how I’m doing things now verses 2010 and 2011 is staggering, and I can’t even describe how happy I am that this system is in my life. (And that’s about as mushy as I get.)
Now onto the photos:
Left Side: This side just screams summer to me, and I love that! We went to a close-by lake for the day with Jake’s family, and had a lot of fun. Also featured, Jonas bathed in sunlight, Eliza looking gorgeous pre-lake, and my standard everyday Instagrams collage.
I also used this page as an opportunity to finish off an old American Crafts sticker pack; the “soak up the sun” and coordinating little stickers were just what it needed! I get a strange sense of satisfaction when I use a whole embellishment pack. Not sure why that is.
That’s me STANDING while tubing! I know. I rock.
I like to include journaling on some of the random things we did. This one’s listing what’s going on in the Instagrams: Jonas attacked the vacuum with a lightsaber, Jake and I filmed for a Big Picture Classes workshop, Eliza and I walked to her favorite restaurant for a “just us” night, Eliza tried to stay up late even though she had to get up for summer school, my mom came over for dinner, and Jonas started pretending to “work” on his laptop.
I rarely use the Project Life title cards as stand-alones, but this week it felt right. I loved pulling the beautiful blues from the Project Life Jade Kit for this side of the spread.
Insert 1, Front: This week contained June Day in the Life (go to that post if you want to read the journaling + see bigger pictures). I’ve been using Ali Edwards Day in the Life Template and I love it.
Insert 1, Back: For the back I made a big ‘ole photo collage to hold the rest of the Day in the Life photos. Not a lot of Jake this time around, except for a silhouette at the bottom. I’ll make sure to fix that the next DITL coming up this weekend.
Insert 2, Front: This page is my June project for Ali Edwards’s One Little Word, which I blogged about in this post. I actually made this page earlier in June, but for non-time sensitive stuff, I put it where it fits. And this week I happened to have the perfect 8.5 x 11 spot.
Insert 2, Back and Insert 3, Front: The rest of the spread is all about the Maker Faire. This first double-pager is inspired by Ali Edwards‘s (now closed) Hello Story, and focuses on Eliza’s experience there.
Insert 3, Back and Right Side: The back and photo collage focus on the Maker Faire in general. I wrote about these pages and doing two perspectives for one event in in this Find Your Voice post.
I’m so in love with this week, and can’t WAIT to show you the gazillions of other spreads I’ve made.
If you like these posts, mark your calendar for September 1, because I’m bringing a whole week of PL posts in celebration of the start of Project Life Lessons! I’m also working on a post ABOUT Project Life Lessons, so please let me know if you have any questions about the workshop in the comments section!
