#30Lists Blog Hop | What We're Good At

To celebrate that September 1 is right around the corner, and with it the start of the next round of 30 Days of Lists, we are participating in a #30Lists blog hop! I’m so excited about how many people have signed on to start listing, and Kam and Amy are excited too, becuase they’ve decided they’re giving away a $100 gift certificate to Studio Calico IF we reach 600 Listers registered! All you have to do to be automatically entered to win is be among the first 600 listers. Pretty awesome. And we know that the hundreds of listers out there are itching for the September 2013 listing to begin, so a bunch of us picked challenges from the free March 2011 lists to tide us over! If you want tons of listing inspiration NOW, you can check out the self-paced past list challenges also.

Another exciting announcement: it’s not just me signed up this time! Jake and Eliza are registered too. I’m not sure if they will both do all 30 lists like I will, but I’m excited for my family to join in the fun together. We had fun brainstorming our answers for these lists on a car ride over the weekend! Bonus for this memory keeping obsessed mama: It will be rad to have listed information documented about them in their own words and their own handwriting! It’s also good spelling and writing practice for 7-year-old Eliza. (Though this time she had me write everything out first for her to copy because she wanted everything to be spelled correctly.)

#30Lists Blog Hop | What We're Good At

We all got a jump start with the March 2011 list Things I’m Good At prompt, which I changed to “things we are good at” so I only had to do the title once. Every family member got a Project Life card to fill out, and we all have our strengths documented! (We came up with one for 2-year-old Jonas too, just for fun.)

Here’s what we listed:

Jake: Coding / Photography / Learning new things / Mechanical things and tinkering / Fixing things / Monopoly / Finding information online / Making music / Riling the kids up / Gizmos & Gadgets / Brainstorming solutions and ideas / Lurving my family

Eliza: Art / Science / French / School / Soccer / Gardening / Singing / Memory / Being a mini Megan / Love

Jonas: climbing / snuggling / baking / pretend sword play / Houdini moves / dancing / escaping / understanding feelings / go go go going!

Megan: Storytelling / DIYing / cooking / sociology / reading / logic / parenting / growing / idea generating / doing good.

Documenting your strengths, and coming up with them with family members together, is awesome, empowering, and something I encourage all of you to do!

I hope you all are as excited about 30 Days of Lists as I am, and I also hope that this encourages you to get some of your real life friends or family registered as well! I love the #30Lists online community, but I am so excited to add this extra layer to the challenge this time around. I’m thinking about talking my mom and my aunt into joining in too! (By the way, it was all Eliza’s idea.)
