It’s Christmas in July! My friend Alissa and I decided to celebrate by sharing last year’s finished December Dailies.
December Daily is a life documentation project from Ali Edwards inviting you to document each day in December. It can be a holiday project, but it doesn’t have to be. I love this project, and I’ve been playing along since 2009. I now have four finished albums, but not one of them was actually finished IN December.
I did not come anywhere close to finishing my December Daily last year. Last December ended up being really exhausting for us, so I didn’t get very far with my December Daily album. I shared how I made the wood cover and prepared my album, and then shared one update. That’s it. Even though I only made 5 pages, I documented everyday (or doubled up when I missed a day) on a private blog, so all of the photos and words were ready and waiting for me. I even printed the photos at Shutterfly in January as part of my January One Little Word Actions. All I needed was an afternoon for assembly!
It’s my philosophy that so long as you’re getting in the stuff that matters–the photos and words– as things are happening, it doesn’t really matter when you put it all together.
Even if you don’t get the photos and words as they happen, you can still go back and document. Want to finish a December Daily but don’t have documentation for every day? Check out how I tackled December Daily in 2009 when I didn’t have daily stuff.
Click the photos for a larger view. You can also flip through them in a gallery in the pop-up!
I love this album, love having December 2012 in the books, and it feels so good to be finished. I’m not writing much about the assembly here, but if you have questions about how it came together, I’d be happy to answer them in the comments section!
Make sure to check out what Alissa did too!
I did December Daily and Project Life last year, so if you’re interested in seeing what overlapped and what was different, you can check out these December Project Life posts:
