I’ve been working on layouts for Clean and Simple by Cathy Zielske (now closed, taking c/o Big Picture Classes), and the challenge to make a single photo page with a black and white photo immediately made me think of this photo Jake took of Eliza in 2009. I have no idea why I haven’t scrapped it yet, it’s gorgeous! I loved having a look into what Eliza was like at 3.

To come up with words describing Eliza, I searched my memory and looked at Jake’s and my Facebook status updates from 2009. There are some gems in there that I need to get into albums (mostly funny things she said). I purposely didn’t look at any scrapbook pages from 2009, so I could maybe cover personality traits that weren’t already obvious from what’s already in the books.

I also diverged from the class a bit by bringing in color from background paper instead of the digital embellishments designed by Cathy, which I turned grey and printed on subtly colored papers (light blue and cream). I also didn’t type the journaling, so I could think about what I wanted to write as I was putting the page together.

I also flipped the page horizontally, as it looked better with my horizontal photo. The page is horizontal 8×10, which is great, because those are my least used page protectors from the Becky Higgins Small Variety Pack.

Love this page, and love that there’s going to be a litte highlight of Eliza’s personality in our 2009 album. I can’t wait to get started on my next C&S assignment, which is much trickier.
