I’ve been having a lot of fun learning new photography techniques in my spare time, and one of the interesting things I did recently was take a picture through a second lens not attached to the camera. I’ve seen this technique online and thought it would be fun to try! I put my Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM Telephoto Zoom Lens on my Canon EOS 7D and then set our Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 Lens on a table a few feet away. And I got it! Megan all pretty and upside down. I was surprised how easy it was to focus through the second lens. After we were done shooting I realized I probably should have focused the 50mm too, even though it wasn’t on the camera so I could get a sharper image of Megan. Also, the table it was sitting on is visible, so I’ll have to set the lens closer to the edge next time to eliminate weird lines. Maybe I’ll try those improvements next time!

Have you ever done experimental photography? What crazy things in your hobby do you like to try just for fun?
