This week’s challenge at Document Life Workshop is to Document a Prank! I’m not a prankster myself, but I took this as an opportunity to scrapbook some of my favorite Jake stories from his childhood.
He did some crazy funny stuff as a kid. Here’s the journaling:
Don’t let that cute face fool you: tiny Jake was a PRANKSTER. Here are a few commonly told naughty stories from his childhood (no wonder Jonas is trouble!).
1) Swapped sugar with salt for Corbin’s cereal.
2) Gave his dad a cold glass of vinegar instead of water.
3) Made the cabinet doors fall off.
The punishment for these pranks is debated (Jake swears he had to eat the salt cereal and drink the vinegar), but no one is denying that this is funny stuff decades later.
I totally loved putting this page together. The story came first– I was planning on just finding a photo of Jake from around the age that the stories take place, but I ended up finding a few funny photos! Gold.
I’m a big fan of using the pocketed page protectors for older photos, because I don’t have to worry about copying / printing them. I can just slip ‘em in, and they’re safe! The smaller photo isn’t adhered on the card background it’s on, btw.
Tip from this page: use a color scheme to build a page using multiple kits. I was inspired by a few of the cards from a Studio Calico grab bag I purchased (now sold out), but I didn’t have enough cards that would be great for journaling to fill out the layout. So I grabbed a few cards from my Seafoam Kit and from the Baby Kit. Black + white + yellow. I’m in love.
What funny stories do you have to document?
Go check out the challenge and the other team takes!
