Today’s challenge over on Document Life Workshop is to Look Through Your Stash for Ideas. I took up the challenge and was inspired to create a cute layout.

This layout was inspired by the Daisy D’s banana paper, which I bought for a project in 2009. (Maybe I’ll actually do that project too!) When I was browsing through my paper stash, I came across this paper and realized I hadn’t documented Jonas’s obsession with bananas. For months, he’d eat a banana everyday. For awhile, it was the only fruit he liked.

I browsed through my 2011 iPhoto library until I found a photo of Jonas with a banana and plopped it in with my next photo order. For the page, I collected old and new supplies to accompany the banana paper. The pattern was too busy for a background, so I went with yellow subtly patterned Amy Tangerine paper. Running with the yellow, I used Project Life Baby cards for journaling and my title. The journaling cards work for traditional pages too!

I also grabbed an old K & Co monkey boarder strip to reinforce the banana theme, a few old Love, Elsie bits, and one of the few cards I hadn’t yet used from the Document Life Workshop Everyday Journaling Card Set. Use that stash!

Jake would like me to recognize that putting yellow text on a white background is a horrible design mistake (bad on the eyes). Maybe I’ll go back and trace the title later with a black pen, but for now I don’t care so much.

Head over to see other Use Your Stash takes from the DLW Creative Team!

P.S. I’m working on Project Life for 2011 slowly, and I’ll use this layout as half of a Project Life spread in that album.
