Welcome to last week in food! Highlight: I got to buy some loose leaf from Tea Drops as a reward for being two weeks soda free (almost three now!).

Hodge podge dinner

Sunday I meant to make a chicken dish, but my chicken went bad. Ooops. So we had a sort of a hodge podge: rice pilaf, salad, peaches, and bell peppers, yukon gold potatoes, and carrots roasted with olive oil and a bit of ranch dressing powder mix.

Free Birds

Monday we ate at Freebirds World Burrito. All four of us ate for $10 (kids eat free Mondays + redeeming a frequent customer card).

Tuesday Jonas and I made pizza. This is what the kitchen looks like post-dough. Super messy. We used Elise Blaha Cripe’s recipe for the dough this time.

And the sauce was just canned petite diced tomatoes + garlic + basil + salt. I get excited still every time I get to use our DIY pizza peel.

Homemade Pizza

Pepperoni + Black Olive for the toppings.

Cheese Stuffed Chicken Marsala

Wednesday we had dinner at Olive Garden with Jake’s mom, brother, and his girlfriend. I love their salad dressing! I ordered cheese stuffed chicken marsala, even though I’ve learned to make it on my own (and better) because it is delicious.

Beef Stroganoff

Thursday we made beef stroganoff.

Spaghetti and Meatballs and Caesar Salad

Friday was spaghetti and meatballs with salad and cheesy bread. We use whole wheat spaghetti and mixed the leftover pizza sauce into a jar of pasta sauce. We tried to make meatballs out of Italian sausage this time, and I’m not sure if I like them that way. The flavor is overpowering.

Bread for All Nandoori Naan

Saturday we tried Bread for All Tandoori Naan Cafe for the first time. It was really tasty, but can’t beat our favorite Middle Eastern restaurant, Jerusalem Bakery, on price.

That was this week in food! What have you been eating lately? Any good recipes for us?
