Our little J-bird turned two today! It still hasn’t sunk in. He really really isn’t a baby anymore.
The poor dude is sick again (we think it’s from contact with millions of people over Christmas). We thought he’d beat it: he only had a runny nose this morning, but he ended up with a fever during his birthday party and coughed so hard he threw up. I felt so bad for him. But he’s Jonas, so he didn’t let a little thing like feeling crappy stop him from running around, having a good time, and causing a ruckus.
Eliza spent the night with her grandparents the past two nights (partially so she wouldn’t get sick too), so this morning was all about Mom, Dad, and Jonas. We played with his Christmas toys, he opened up a birthday present early (giant Spiderman puzzle!), we read tons of books, and watched some puppy-themed children’s TV (Pound Puppies and Kipper).
Jake and I finished painting and cleaned like mad while he was sleeping.
We invited our family over for an appetizer dinner and cake. My mom knocked it out of the park again with a Kipper cake. (She’s made some really amazing cakes for the kids’ past birthdays too.)
I love that even though Jake and I both have not-together parents, everyone gets along and can be at the same parties. We missed out on a few key family members because of work schedules, so we’ll celebrate with them later next week.
Eliza, who is getting big herself! She’s turning seven in a little over a week.
When my grandpa told me he was getting Jonas a big Tonka truck, that is so not what I thought he meant.
I love the little snappy / grabby thing Jonas does when he wants something. He was really excited about that cake.
So was his cousin Nathan.
