Like the previous week, last week went nothing like we planned, because we didn’t make it to the grocery store over the weekend. Again. We’re going today, so everything should run smoother next week.

Steak

Sunday we had dinner at Jake’s dad’s for Jake’s and his brother Nick’s birthday (both have birthdays on the 29th). Rita (Jake’s step-mom) made an awesome feast of steak with mushrooms, corn, garlic roasted potatoes, fresh baked french bread, and salad (and a hamburger for Jake, who doesn’t love steak). Man, my MIL can cook, let me tell you.

So I could give @jake_nerdnest a sugar filled birthday breakfast in bed. #latergram

Monday was Jake’s birthday. Eliza missed the bus (my fault) so I took her to school. So I stopped for breakfast at the bigger Filling Station (the little spin-off is within walking distance of our house). I bought a carmel vanilla latte and coconut macaroon for me (breakfast of champions) and hot chocolate and a giant cinnamon roll for Jake. Breakfast in bed, even though I didn’t cook it.

Chicken Pot Pie

Monday night we had leftover Chicken pot pie. That might not sound like an exciting birthday dinner; but Jake declared his birthday a super lazy day, which meant no cooking.

Tuesday we still had pretty much no food in the house, and Jake got home from work pretty late, so he stopped on the way home to grab us some Chipotle.

NIght of the Appetizers

Wednesday was Halloween and we were too busy with the whole trick-or-treating thing to worry about dinner. So we had a frozen food appetizer night, which was fun.

The kids pulled in 8 quarts of candy (and we only did two streets).

And, of course, there was plenty of candy to be had by all.

Homemade Pizza

Thursday we had pizzas made with this dough recipe and Hclappy’s sauce recipe. It’s looking like this is going to be a weekly staple.

Chicken apple chili

Friday we had one of our favorite autumn recipes, creamy chicken apple chili. We love apples in savory dishes, even though the idea freaks most people out. But everybody we know brave enough to try it has loved it.

Here’s what this week will sort of look like:

The Plan

Sunday | Caribbean Jerk Wraps
Monday | Fettucini alfredo + salad
Tuesday | Soft tacos
Wednesday | Pork Tenderloin with Apple Succotash
Thursday | Roasted Chicken, Rice, and Roasted Veggies
Friday | Moist Maker Sandwiches
Saturday | Pizzas made with this dough recipe and Hclappy’s sauce recipe

Other | Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies, Pumpkin Dip with Honeycrisp Apples
