At the beginning of every month, we post a challenge for ourselves and you! At the end of the month, in theory, we’ll post our completed projects (Jake and I are both doing one) and will have a link-up for you to share yours! The projects can be interpreted in any way you want. Interpret our challenge to do a project in crafts, photography, creative writing, home decor, technical gadgetry, cooking, or whatever you can come up with.
This month we challenge you to make something seasonal! We’re pretty selective about the projects we make, both because of out time and our budget, so we tend to mostly make things that we know are going to last a long time and will get a lot of use. (the big exception being our kid projects which are often just as much about the making as the result.)
But this month, we’re going to step out of that habit and make some stuff that’s not made for all-year use. We’re thinking Halloween costumes for the kids (they’re going to be Hermione and Dobby the house elf), some pumpkin carving (maybe even Potter themed?), and maybe a few decorating projects. Also lots of seasonal cooking will happen, because Megan is obsessed with pumpkin flavored everything.
We’re also planning on posting a couple of seasonal tutorials for you.
Including our über popular Halloween headbands, which we used to sell in the shop during a short lived accessories phase.
That should be coming sometime next week (ish). (If you want an October tutorial right now, check out Meg’s One Sew Pennant Banner tutorial.)
Also, don’t feel like you have to make a seasonal project for this season. Be prepared and make something for next season if you want!
What seasonal thing are you going to make?
Check out our other monthly challenges and results here. They are meant to inspire, so you can do them any time–not just in the month we post them!
