Eliza's Nature Book

Eliza and I are participating in Allie’s Craft Olympics! In case you didn’t catch it yet, Jake and I even made the Craft Olympics the August Project Challenge. For the Craft Olympics Event #1: Best Use of Paper, Eliza decided to make a nature book!

Eliza's Nature Book

When we take walks, Eliza’s always gathering things she finds. Looks like she inherited her mama’s collecting gene. For a while it was rocks and acorns in a mason jar, then a collection of sticks on our porch, then stuff to look at under her microscope, then bugs in jars… she’s really interested in nature. So when she started collecting leaves, we thought that a mini book would be the perfect way to showcase them!

Eliza had a lot of fun dipping into my scrapbooking stash for the cover. She decorated the front 100% by herself: I only helped with the spelling and getting the letters on there straight.

We repurposed an old children’s book for the base of the nature book, and she’s taping in leaves along with nature decorations. We’re planning on trying to research the leaf types online and writing the names of them in the book too. We might also include some photos of bulkier nature stuff like flowers or fruit growing on trees.

She’s been decorating ahead so that she can just add in the new stuff she finds.

I’m constantly in awe of how cool she is. Now we’re off to have lunch and then work on her entry for the Paint Event!
