This is technically less a recipe and more a topping suggestion.
I don’t know why I decided to make taco pizza. I think it had something to do with there being both tostadas and lasagna on the “food to make soon” section of our family whiteboard. Our friend Jessica asked if we were making lasagna tostadas (LOL) and we tried to figure out what that would look like. And somehow I ended up with a serious craving for taco pizza. That and I bought store-bought queso on an impulse. And this pizza was born.
I started off with Elise Blaha Cripe’s Pizza Dough Recipe. Which is why it took us so long to make this pizza happen: I didn’t read that the dough has to rise for four hours when I first intended to make it.
Jake rolled it out, because when I do it, the resulting pizza looks wonky. For sauce, we mixed store bought queso and a bit of chili salsa. We cooked ground hamburger with a diced onion and diced tomato, and seasoned it up with homemade taco seasoning. Then we added colby jack cheese. I would have added black olives, but Eliza ate them all.
This was gooood. We’re making homemade pizza crust from now on (we used to make a mix).
