We love the City Market. We used to live in the River Market area of Kansas City, literally right across the street from it. We love our house and our new neighborhood, but there are certainly things we miss about it down there. The skyline, certainly. The food, definitely. But mostly the people.
Last night we went to the art opening of our friend Jonathan Ferguson (aka Jack) at City Market Coffeehouse. Aren’t his designs amazing? We’re so in love with his work. Jack also does amazing custom t-shirt screen printing and rad designs for local companies.
We didn’t get any good photos of Jack (we’re planning on doing a proper interview with him later), but we did get photos with our friend Megan, who came down from Nebraska for the party (Jack is her brother). We’re hanging out with her and her boyfriend Taylor tomorrow: woot! (Eliza and Jonas stayed at our house with my Mom–thanks Mom!)
This morning we headed back to the City Market for the Farmer’s Market. Eliza was very sad that we missed the guy that makes balloon animals, but she got over it. We bought a TON of spices from Al Habashi Market (spices are only $1 for a GIANT scoop!), some new herbs (I’m really killing the ones we bought from Trader Joe’s…), local flavored honey sticks, and some amazing bread and pastries from Bloom. We met up with our friends Tiffany and Burt and had fun walking around with them and our two crazy little people. We’re glad it’s farmer’s market weather again. Eliza’s Saturday Spanish class is on a break right now, so we’ll be soaking up all the Saturday farmer’s market action we can!
Do you have a local farmer’s market or local marketplace that you go to?
