I started writing this post Friday night, so it will say “today” often, even through it’s Saturday now.
Friday was nice and lazy. Eliza didn’t have school today, so Jake and I got to sleep in about an hour until Jonas woke up and Jake had to go to work. Today was icky and rainy outside, so I decided to make it an indoor day. Jonas and I took it easy and let Eliza sleep in as late as she wanted, which ended up being until 10:30 when Jonas went down for a nap.
She was in a silly mood today.
For breakfast, we made a recipe of Eliza’s invention for the first time. She shredded the cheese.
It’s a croissant stuffed with eggs and cheese with melted butter spread over the bottom side of the croissant. She emphasized that the order is very important: it’s butter, then cheese, then eggs. Yum!
She was very proud of her own recipe invention.
After eating, Eliza did a project that the Easter Bunny left her.
And I sewed some curtains out of a pillowcase for Jonas’s room (using this method. I got them almost finished.
Jonas woke up and we had a lunch of frozen gnocchi with gorgonzola, brussels sprouts, and kiwi.
Jonas and Eliza played. Jonas is attacking Eliza with kisses in this photo.
Ooops. Somebody’s kiss turned into a head-but.
Jonas “read” me some books with made up words after a diaper change.
Eliza played with her new Quidditch Harry Potter Lego Set. Jake and I bought it for 1/2 off from one of Jake’s buddies at work (he sells Legos on eBay) and have been saving it for a rainy day. Jonas found out how to climb the high-up chair, so I put his Legos up there so he could play too. While they did that, I switched over and folded laundry in the adjoining room.
And took some photos for a blog post for this weekend.
Jake called with some last minute plans to be home late, so I invited my mom over. Crazy Eliza spent the whole time climbing on her.
Baked potatoes, Italian dressing marinated chicken, and peas for dinner.
Jonas found out that the table could wobble a bit on the uneven floor, and he kept climbing up to rock it back and forth to make noise.
While we were chilling at home, Jake stayed after a bit to work on a coding project for Freckled Nest Design and then met up with his older brother Nick downtown to head to Municipal Auditorium a few blocks away (they went together to save on parking).
Their younger brother, Corbin, played in a contest with his band Kill the Lights. I love that both brothers and their parents went to support Corbin’s metal band. The rest of the Nest decided to stay back; I don’t think Jonas could sit still for that long.
Jake’s brother Nick and his girlfriend Krista.
My mom read Jonas Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and I read him The Very Hungry Caterpillar before we put him to bed waaay after his bedtime. Then we played the uber complicated Jumanji for the first time. It took longer to figure out the instructions than it did to play the game. (Jake took this picture right after he got home, but somehow I didn’t get any pictures of him today. I really thought I took one of him working at his desk. Ooops.)
I read Eliza a chapter of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and she went to sleep almost 2 1/2 hours after her usual bedtime.
Jake and I both worked at our desks for a bit. Then we watched an episode of Big Bang Theory on the laptop in bed. I read a few Robert Frost poems and he read a few Internet articles before we fell asleep at around midnight.
That was our Friday! How was yours?
