After an unseasonably warm winter and a freak snow last Friday, it seems that spring has arrived in Kansas City! One of the best surprises last year, or first year in Holly House, was the random flowers that sprung up around our yard.
Jake snapped a few photos of the few that have raised their sleepy heads this week.
I’m terrible at keeping plants alive, so I like that these have a will of their own. I should really dig them all up and plant them in a sensical way (we think a mole spread around the bulbs). I started that project last year but never finished. Gardening is a lot of work!
We’re all enjoying getting to play outside without having to be bundled up. Jonas loves the swings and slide.
Backyard fun, here we come!
I also love that it will be easier to run errands. Most of the things that I need to do during the day are within three miles, so I love that Jonas and I can take long walks to go to the post office or pick up ink instead of having to take Jake to work and pick him up (we’re a one car family) when we need to go places.
Matt and his dog Pav, who just moved into or neighborhood, will be coming to visit a lot more! It’s s cool that we can walk to each other’s houses.
The air smells damp and fresh, the breeze is light, and the season is full of promise. Good riddance winter!
