Just like last year, Eliza’s making an ornament every day until Christmas! Day 1 is a tin can lid snowflake (sort of).
We had a ton of can lids leftover from our Canned Tree Advent Calendar, so yesterday I chose to use one of them for Day 1 (the one with the smoothest edges) to make an ornament based on this project on Pinterest
I first drew little dots on the lid with a permanent marker so she would know where to punch. To make the project five-year-old safer, we punched holes in the lid with our Crop a Dile hole punch (one of my favorite tools EVER). So we had to simplify the design a bit, making it look less like a snowflake. No worries. Still cool.
E needed a little help pushing the handle down all of the way.
Her special “E’s Ornaments Only” trees are on the mantle ready to go! She’s very proud to choose where the ornaments go on the trees. When Jonas is big enough to join in, we’re probably going to need some more little fake trees. I can only imagine what it will be like when we have a full house of kids (our goal number is 5 or 6 littles).
Do you make handmade ornaments for yourself or with your kids? If you have cool links, make sure to share them! We’re taking a “no reinventing the wheel” approach this year to make it stress free 🙂
