I’m not going to be able to get all of the photos from this weekend edited before I have to leave for work, so I’m going to break up our weekend into parts.

I’ll first say that a lot has happened over the past few days (hence the relative quiet around here). It has been an emotional rollercoaster, so it’s kind of hard to process it all here. Intermixed with the happy things that have been going on (Halloween festivities, Jake & his brother Nick’s shared birthday, a giant party), we’ve had a lot of sad things happen too. We’ll hit the happy stuff highlights and then get a serious on you after all of the cute photos are uploaded.

Halloween Decorations

This year we didn’t put up any decorations until the 29th (except for pumpkins). We kept it simple with little pumpkings, webs, and a few knick knacks.

Oh, and blood splatter decals (my favorite).

Eliza's School Party

Friday was Eliza’s school party. I’m a Room Parent (which makes me feel like super mom), so I helped out. We read books, ate healthy snacks (no candy at E’s school!), colored baby pumpkins, and had a blast in costumes. I was a cat; it was the only thing I could come up with at the last second. I wish I could show you how cute Eliza’s classmates were in their costumes, but I don’t what to post their photos here without their parent’s permission.

Jake at 25

Jake at 25

Nick at 29 (and Krista)

Saturday was Jake’s 25th birthday and Nick’s 29th birthday. We had a giant Zombie Apocalypse Party in their honor on Sunday. It was great: tons of friends and family, and great food. Also, the house was clean for about 5 minutes, which was nice. (That was before the party, of course.) The party lasted over 12 hours. Success.

Halloween Dessert Table

We didn’t take many pictures during the party (we were too busy having fun), but we did get some good dessert table shots. How awesome is the zombie-rising-from-the-grave cake? My very talented mom made it. And our brain cupcakes didn’t turn out quite so brainy, but oh well. Still cool.

Stay tuned for Part 2 (or as I like to call it, the costume reveal!).
