Jonas is nine months old (as of yesterday)! Here’s how Jonas has changed since he hit the 8 month mark.
-This month, Jonas focused on moving this month. He started cruising last month, but this month he really mastered it. All he wants to do is move from object to object. He’ll use walls to get around, will pull up on people and cruise holding onto legs, or will “walk” by pushing things.
-Jonas switched from army crawling to crawling on all fours this month. We thought he’d skipped crawling on all fours all together (he’d only get onto all fours right before he pulled up on something, he didn’t use it for distance). Somewhere along the way he decided that army crawling is faster.
-He likes to “walk” holding on to our hands. He can even walk (slowly) holding on with only one hand.
-He can stand for a few seconds at a time before loosing balance.
-Jonas is still breastfeeding a few times a day.
-He’s totally over pureed food. He prefers food with chunks (chunky applesauce, cottage cheese mixed with purred spinach and papaya, quinoa with mushrooms and carrots) or finger foods (banana, avocado, sweet potato chucks, peas, raisins). He’s really good at picking up small bits with two fingers, but will make a total mess and grab a fistful if there’s more than one bite in front of him at a time.
-He can drink out of a sippy cup. Sometimes we put a little water in there when he’s snacking. That’s how he’s be drinking breastmilk if I’m away during a feeding (which is rare).
-He’s up to seven teeth now.
-He’s a good sleeper and is going strong at about eleven hours of sleep a night and two naps during the day.
-He won’t snuggle while sleeping. He’ll pretty much only fall asleep if he’s in his crib and no one is in the room (he doesn’t want to miss out on the action). We went to a wedding this month and the reception lasted until 11:00 P.M. Jonas usually goes to sleep at 7:30 P.M., but he stayed awake during the whole thing. He wasn’t even cranky.
-J bird isn’t a big talker. He squeals often, but isn’t a babbler. He whispers and points to things “dah dah dah”, but he hasn’t added many new speech actions since last month, other than a new sound: “baa!”.
-He waves now. It’s super cute. He’ll turn around when he’s crawling and wave to us (just to make sure we’re still watching).
-He also has started clapping when he’s excited and when music plays (that’s brand new; he just started doing that yesterday!).
-He’s started to get really ornery. He understands no, but doesn’t always listen. Sometimes he squeals and crawls away when we say no as if we’re playing a game. Sometimes he looks at us and does something sloooowly that he’s not supposed to be doing. Sometimes he listens and crawls to us, clearly enjoying our “good job!”s and hugs.
-He loves it outside, especially swinging on the hammock with Daddy.

I feel like he’s growing up way too fast! Are we this close to toddlerhood already? He’s sooo much fun, but it feels like a blur. I want this year to go in slow motion, I guess. Anyone else feel like that?
