To Jake’s horror, I’m always finding new things to collect. Records, globes, books, craft supplies, art prints, typewriters… multiple collections can get a little expensive. I’ve just found a new obsession, but at least this one is mostly functional. And it should cheer up the place a bit. My least favorite “room” in the loft right now is our kitchen. Most of the things I don’t like are unchangeable (because we rent). I may be stuck with ugly cabinets and dingy linoleum, but that doesn’t mean I can’t to everything in my power to bring that “nerd nest” feel into the space. My current solution? Why, a lovely library cart (found for $7!!!) and a new collection of enamelware.
What was once the eyesore of our space is now one of my favorite little nooks.
Just searching for “enamelware” in the “Vintage” section on Etsy brings up a treasure trove!
I love how bright enamelware is! It’s so vivid that just a few pieces make a huge impact. Of course, there’s no way I’ll be able to stop at a few pieces. Luckily, it’s super affordable. The metal variety, at least.
Now that I’m collecting vintage enamelware, it seems to be everywhere. So it shouldn’t be a surprise that a few pieces turned up in the shop. Click on the photos for links.
I want a giant collection of Turkish coffee pots! I just wish this one happened to be in our color scheme. Maybe it will be part of yours!
Jake had a hard time talking me out of keeping this one. It’s so beautiful… but it’s just slightly the wrong shade of yellow. It doesn’t match the rest of our collection. Jake wins this round. I’m always trying to keep the things I “buy for the shop”.
We also updated with a few more things. My favorite is this super cool flashlight.
Mostly because the two-toned green is lovely, but also because it has a SECRET COMPARTMENT!
Okay, I know that it’s actually supposed to be for extra light bulbs. But we think that love notes and yo-yos would be better placed in there.
We put a bunch of other great vintage goodies up, and we have a TON more to put up throughout the week! We decided that mini updates are much more fun than big giant full-day updates. So check back for more nerdy goodness later this week. We also have some great new handmade items to share!
And don’t forget to enter our giveaway!
